If you are fond of cricket, then you must remember this date to understand the equation for the semi-finals and finals of the ongoing T20 World Cup in Australia.

Dated November 6, 2022

Day - Sunday

This is the day of the big matches in T20 World Cup. The day when it will be decided whether the cricket fans will get to see the match between India and Pakistan once again in this tournament. Perhaps the day that every Indian and Pakistani is eagerly waiting for.

On Sunday, South Africa will face the Netherlands at the Adelaide Oval, and after a few hours, the Pakistan team will face Bangladesh in the same arena. Hundreds of kilometers away from this ground, the teams of India and Zimbabwe will face each other at MSG in Melbourne.

Pakistan kept their hopes of reaching the semi-finals alive by defeating South Africa in Sydney on Thursday. Due to rain, the Duckworth-Lewis law had to be implemented in this match, after which the Pakistan team defeated South Africa by 33 runs. In fact, in the Super 12 and especially in the Group 2 competitions, the excitement of anger is being seen. The map of getting to the knockout stage is getting worse and worse after almost every match.

The map is so confusing ahead of the deciders that teams from India, Pakistan, South Africa, Bangladesh and Zimbabwe can somehow make it to the semi-finals.

From Group 2, if the teams from India and Pakistan reach the semi-finals, they will face the top-ranked teams in Group 1.

If India and Pakistan reach the semi-finals from Group 2, they will face the top-ranked teams in Group 1, which is expected to lead to the T20 World Cup final in Melbourne on November 13. It could be between India and arch-rival Pakistan.

To understand how this hope is maintained, understand the current state of the teams after playing four matches and at what stage they are.

India

Total Match-4 Points6 Net Run Rate- 0.730

The match against Zimbabwe is still to come.

So now India is at the top of the points list but still not guaranteed to reach the semi-finals i.e. the knockout stage. Rohit and Co have lost the match against South Africa, keeping the streak at bay until at least November 6.

There are still three possibilities.

If they defeat India and Zimbabwe, they will book their place in the semi-finals with eight points without any compromise.

If the match is interrupted due to rain, both teams will get one point each. India will reach the semi-finals with seven points.

If India loses to Zimbabwe and Pakistan wins against Bangladesh then net run rate will play an important role. (Currently Pakistan is leading on net run rate basis).

Even after the defeat by Zimbabwe, India's hopes of reaching the last four in two situations will remain.

First South Africa lose their last match against Netherlands and second Bangladesh team beat Pakistan and their net run rate is less than India. As the last match of Group 2 is against India on Sunday, it will be known even before the start of the competition what will be the decisive equation to reach the last four.
